engnbldr has a full gasket set for the 3.0 for $119 and the head bolts are pretty cheap too

Ok well it looks like this is the road I'm taking, thanks for all the help. Especially the line on cheap parts. Yes I will try to make a most excellent right up. already started taking pics. My bud is a retired mechanic and drag racer. Awesome shop too. He is racing this weekend but will have his car in the trailer and the shop free for my Yota next week. He asked me if I relized opening the engine is like opening a can of worms. I told him that I liked fishing so no problem. I know it's going to cost me so rocks and beer, but I want to do it right. I would like to get 30 years out of this thing like I have out of my lil mule pepe(83 4x4 SB r22 still my DD)

Engnbler is a very good place to get parts as well as being reasonable. I went to him when I did the head on my 22re and I also got a cam for it. Nice guy he is.
