Whining radiator and above average temperature.

Whining radiator and above average temperature.
So my good ol' 88 has a new problem for me to figure out. She has a radiator whine after driving (or idling) for 10-15 mins. Also the temperature has raised from where it normally sits. There is a smell of antifreeze that I'm pretty sure is coming out of the bleed tube attached to the overflow tank. I haven't drove it for an extended amount of time to see if it completely overheats due to being scared of it getting stranded. The only work I've done on it recently is change out my CAT and an oil change. Any ideas guys on where I should start on diagnosis? She has a 22re. Thanks fellas as always.

Yes, I'd just replace the cap for your initial debugging:
Mine original cap wasn't leaking, but it wasn't holding pressure, and yours might just be tired and ready for renewal, especially if it's still original.
