Where's your starter relay?

I'm looking for the relay on a 1990 4Runner 4cyl 5spd specifically, but lets here where YOUR relay is no matter what *Toyota* you've got.

Automatics don't have a starter relay only a neutral start switch or something.

I want to know so I can (and you can) upgrade your OEM starting system. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...er-fix-160948/

Bump, I checked in the passenger's and driver side kick panels. I think its in there though did not find it. I can smell it. I'm almost certain it is not under the hood.

In my '86 4Runner it is behind the passenger side kick panel.

I did this fix and it worked beautifully. My relay is in the engine bay on the passenger side. Behind the fuse block. This is on an 88 p/u.

quote from FSM: The relay is located in the No. 1 junction block
on the driver’s side.

If I'm honest, I don't know what/ where that is.

Found it:

Starter relay is surrounded by a red box on the parts screen. The relay is located in the driver's footwell.

The relay itself is a green box marked Toyota Denso Starter Relay. The relay is located in the driver's footwell (see the clutch pedal bracket and dead pedal?) above the fuse box.

voila. Looks to be a bit of a pain to get in there though to do the relay mod.

Most awesome reference ever. Thanks dntsdad.

Hey I don't know if anyone can help me but if you can I would greatly appreciate it. I have a 1991 automatic 2-wheel drive 4Runner body that I put on a 1995 4x4 manual 4Runner chassis. I am to the point of no return on this lengthy project seeing as I went into it with my eyes closed. I am getting full electrical power to the cab but I can't say the same about my starter solenoid. I have checked the plug for the solenoid and it is hot but the solenoid makes no sound when I turn the key over. I also have no idea what wires translate over as the clutch safety wires so I have not been successful in reconnecting or bypassing that either. I am very frustrated and need a fellow enthusiasts help and guidance. If you know what to do about this please let me know. You can email me at skinnith47@yahoo.com or you can call or text me at 541-601-2139. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
