where is knock sensor do i need it

where is knock sensor do i need it

ok ive been reading as much as i can on this and i think i need a knock sensor i just blew up my 22re in my 1990 4x4 at 134k
and i have an 86 4x4 22r with 168k i am asking where is the knock sensor located and do i need it any pics would be great the only sensor i have found
is what looks like the oil pressure sensor down by the oil filter

yes you need it. It should be pass side about halfway back under the intake screwed into the block.

There will be two sensors on the pass side of the block, one for oil pressure and the other is a knock sensor.

ok thanks well it looks like i have to drill it out and tap iti aw what looks like a spot that sticks out of the block but is smooth where something would go there any idea what the diamiter and thread pitch is needed for dril and tap?

you should not have to drill and tap anything, the holes are drilled and tapped from the factory

If this spot you're talking about is to the left and just above the oil filter, then that's it. One used block I received awhile back also did not have that hole tapped. Just drilled. Don't know what vehicle it came out of. Thread is 12mm x 1.25.

ok thanks for the info
and the spot where the knock sencor is located has a spot where it would go but it is not drilled or tapped
kinda like the old turbo oil return line casting on the other side the engine
