Where does this ground strap attach? (pics)
First, I did try searching but cannot find the right spot. I just bought this 86 Pickup and was changing my brake pads and found this dangling grounding strap in the passengers side wheel well and pulled it up to the engine bay. It splits off the negative battery terminal, I found the one that's properly bolted to my fender, so I know this one shouldl bolt to the engine block somewhere. I have a 22R carbureted, I did a search and cannot find any clear photos of where this goes. Can anyone help with a pic? Thanks in advance.

how many of these trucks electrical items are actually grounded straight to the body?
and dont those "thick rubber mounts" have metal bolts holding the body to the frame in the first place?

first, im relatively new to toyotas... im just listing the basic three grounds a dc system would need to function in MOST vehicles.

Especially your dashboard equipment. And my amps for my ridiculous stereo.
And floating bolts are not a good conductor in the eyes of engineers.
And secondlly Im not new to toyota's, and im just tellin you, you forgot to mention the ground to the body.

And for the us in California, ECM (emission computer) ground to engine block via that same cable that's dangling.
Of course Toyota doesn't make it anymore.

Thank you! See pic, and correct me if this location is incorrect. This is base model w/ 22R carbureted, no power steering, no AC...super base model. BTW for anyone else curious the bolt I used is an M10x 1.25 that's 20mm long found at local Autozone. The engine was recently rebuilt by the previous owner and it looks like they forgot this ground strap back. I had all the other grounds connected properly, engine > firewall, battery neg > fender. The truck ran normally without this one, but glad its in the proper place now. Thanks to everyone.

Concur
Concur.
And speaking of battery to body ground, it's the black wire with yellow strip between fuse block and bat neg terminal in crownjewel's pic.

Screws into engine compartment wall nearby.
In my case, I moved the white wires with black stripe directly to same point so whatever they supply is connected directly to that ground point (more reliable). For all ground points I've had the pleasure of messing with, I also sand paint off so ring terminals have direct contact with clean bare metal, and apply conductive (carbon-loaded silicone) grease to all contact surfaces before re-installing.

on a serious matter thatGuy is right about battery to body ground, pull your ground off your frame doing something stupid and see whats happens to your electrical system, then you'll have loads of fun replacing your gauge cluster, your lights, your radio, every fuse, bulb, and relay will be fried

I am pretty sure I don`t have any grounds to the frame.
in fact I just have 2 coming off the battery .
One to the inner fender one to the engine block.
The fact that they are new #01 welding cable makes them so much better then the old burnt cables that were 20 plus years old.
