Wheel well engine shield

For lack of a better description . . .
that's what's gone missing from my 4Runner. I was washing it last weekend when I noticed it's gone. No idea when or why it came off. Without it

all this stuff is exposed. Should I be concerned? Had I better find one to replace it?

Mine has been gone for a while, I wouldn't personally worry about it, but obviously more crap will get flung into your engine compartment.

Mine's been gone for a long time too. You'll just get a little more mud in there is all.

Well, if I can figure out what it's called and find one in a junk yard somewhere, I'll probably replace it. I just won't make it a priority.

Replace that before you wind up with a clump of mud in your starter like I did...

You can get one at a junkyard, or get some rubber sheeting at the local hardware store and make one or you can buy a set for all 4 wheels from Lift Lips (http://www.liftlips.com/).

It sure makes it easier to change the filte ron my 22re with it gone. I stay away from mud anyway. Better cooling? who knows.

You should get some clear rubber/plastic like the stuff that hangs between the bucther and the rest of the grocery store. That way you could put colored LED's behind it. hahaha

On mine, I replaced the plastic push pins with riv-nuts crimped into the holes. Then I used brass screws in the threaded inserts. Makes for easy removal and they stay on very well.

It's called a "mud skirt"... if you need the passenger and have a driver just put it on "inside out" it should fit pretty close... any piece of thick rubber would do the same thing though (you'd just have to cut it to size...

you can make your own, home depot sells this rubber carpet runner or carpet protector, not sure what they call it, but its only like $2 a foot, and cut it as long as you need it, thats what i used for the gap, works great.
