Wheel offset and backspace
Just got a '95 Pickup, 3rd Gen not Tacoma, and I am looking at putting American Racing, Outlaw II's on it, with my 31" BFG All Terrain T/A's.
Just wondering what kind of offset and backspace I should be looking at? I don't want to affect steering or handling at all, if possible, or very little, so wondering what is the best to get or what other guys have, also 15X7 or 15X8?
If anybody has different pics of different backspacing, that would be cool to see, or if anybody is running Outlaw II's pics would be cool.
Also trying to decide on having the white lettering outside or black lettering outside.....opinions?
Thanks.

If your tire is under 10.50" wide then use a 7" wide rim, any wider go bigger..
Stock is 4.75" So anywhere from 3.75-4.75" will fit. A wheel with 3.75" backspacing will stick out an inch farther then stock. If you go with bigger tires this can cause rubbing issues with the pinch weld area..

Thanks Jay. My BFG 31's are 10.50" wide, so I guess I'll go with the 15X7.
Saw these on ebay, not sure if the center hole is big enough though or if the lug pattern is right. Anybody know what 6 lug on 5 1/2" means?

Does 6 lug on 5 1/2" mean there is 5 1/2" radius around the lugs?
I just went out and measured it and it looks like a 4 1/4" center hole will work. I measured across the lugs and there is 5 1/2" across the center hole from one lug to the next....so is that where that comes from?

Thanks camo. So a 4 1/4" center hole isn't big enough huh? Man it sure looked like my stock rims were 4 1/4" center hole when I measured across the hub.
Damn too bad, this was a pretty good deal.

the bolt pattern is measured across opposing lug bolts.
a 6x5.5 means 6 lug and it's 5.5" between the center of one lug and the lug on the opposite side of the wheel.
It has little to do with the diameter of the center opening. That tends to be determined by if the rim is "lug centric" or "hub centric".
Lug centric wheels tend to have larger center diameter openings. Whereas hub centric tend to be designed for specific vehicles.

Thanks Abe. So does that mean that since these rims are 6X5.5, that they will fit my '95 Pickup, that the centerhole will be the right size?
He specified 4 1/4" centerhole on these wheels, but I have never seen that mentioned when I have looked at these wheels anywhere else online, I have only seen the lug size mentioned everywhere else.
I am talking to the guy offline and he will still sell me the wheels, but I don't know if 4 1/4" centerholes will fit....I have measured centerhole on the stock alloys on my 4Runner and they look to me like 4 1/4".
Thanks.

considering there's another thread running around here about milling the center to fit a chevy rim on the 'yota...
I won't say it will fit. It could, but may not.
here's the thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...bigger-177289/

I know this is a strange request, but is it possible for somebody to measure the centerhole of a stock Toyota rim, that you may have laying around, or off your truck at the moment for whatever reason?
I am not in a place where I can pull my wheel off and measure what the centerhole is at the moment. I am measuring across the hub and eyeing it up with a tape measure and it sure looks pretty damn close to 4 1/4" on a stock Toyota alloy on my 2nd Gen 4Runner.
But if it's possible that somebody could measure a wheel that's off of a truck, to let me know for sure if a 4 1/4" centerhole will fit, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Just found a stock Toyota steel rim, that was my old 4Runner spare. It measured 4 1/8" across the centerhole, so it looks like obviously a 4 1/4" centerhole will fit my '95 Pickup.
Just figured I'd post it, in case anybody else is ever doing a search in the future.
Thanks.
