I have lots listed above in various ammo cans that live in the rear cargo area. I also have an old laptop with the FSM on it that lives back there too.

Currently I only have spare Jeep parts in there - I need to attend to my wife's XJ. Don't judge. We're a blended family.

Nice!

In the back of my DD you'll find;
  • 190 piece Mastercraft tool kit
  • Jumper cables
  • Ratchet straps
  • Standard & Needle pliers
  • Adjustable & Channel-lock Wrenches
  • Side Cutters
  • Zip Ties
  • Electrical tape
  • Box cutter knife
  • 300A booster pack (most of the time)
  • Tire plugs & tools.
  • 30' Air Line + Footman valve w/gauge (OBA equipped)

I'll be building a full-floor toolbox soon, in which I hope to carry the above plus a small floor jack, fluids, tow straps, air tools & winter garb.

Ok Matt...
This thread and the camping thread convinced me I need to get my junk better organized. So Wal-Mart has a nice lockable steamer trunk style tool box for $18 ($35 online) I'm going to pick that up today. I stopped by the bone yard and pulled some of the odd shaped 30A/40A fuses, a few standard blade fuses (because you cannot have too many) EFI/Starting relay and a few other piddly things that would leave me stranded if they broke - for a grand total of $2. I have a double sided plano hard case tackle box that will serve as storage for all my small items like those I picked up yesterday.

-A few paper clips for the ECU trouble codes. (I actually used this when my O2 sensor failed on the way home from work. So I was able to stop by the dealer on the way home to get a new sensor.
-Spare drive belts. (keep your old ones as spares if they aren't broken, at least have the water pump/alternator belt as a spare)
-Spare thermostat.
-Spare alternator brushes pre-solder into holder.
-Spare radiator cap.
-Extra wiring and splices. (wiring diagram copies also)
-Multimeter.
-Spare bulbs for taillights and turn signals.

Alright I guess most of my list is not tools but spare parts. I just think they are a good idea to carry, and they don't take a lot of space. I have all this stuff behing the seat of my pickup.
wow if i ever need some parts ill just rob your truck while your at work

edit: oh yeah and in addition to my post above, i carry zip ties, tie downs, and jumper cables

Just added gas tank/ radiator repair putty. Mash the putty up until its homogenous in colour and push it into the leak, wait 2 hrs (I guess thats for rad leaks, where pressure is involved), then go.

It was $6.

Needle nose pliers also work well - pull out the fins then roll up and crimp the leaking tubes.

Dual purpose- gas and rad leaks . All for the low price of $6- it was an impulse buy.

Mind you, if anything manages to tear into the gas tank, I don't think the hole is going to be a pinhole. But you never know.

The only things that stay in my truck all the time are:

1) Tow strap
2) Jumper cables
3) Truck rope

My rock climbing gear never leaves the back seat either.

WAY to much to list

I picked up the box from sams club for 15 bucks. Inside the box(b4 the box was an old duffle bag)is too much stuff probably...but...you honestly NEVER know when your in the middle of nowhere is where its gonna happen when it happens, am I right?

inside the box from top down as best as I can recall, I know I'll miss a cpl things...lol..
blue bag contains a bazillion screwdrivers of any imaginable shape and size(and maybe a pair of pliers odds ends left in) a funnel, a spool of #10 wire, a 3/8 drive socket set + ext's., a 1/2 inch drive socket set plus ext's and deep wells., the cardboard box has a full 24 lugnuts in it., the blue bin(under the red tape) is all impact deep well sockets and a second 1/2" drive ratchet.
Now lets see, under all that stuff is: 3 spare wipers, a come along, recovery strap, spare belts, assorted spare plug wires, air filter, lil buddy air compressor, a bottle of hyperlube (that stuffs amazingly usable), bottle brake parts clnr, bottle brake fluid, 2 quarts sae30, 1 quart of ATF(I still dont know why I have that in there, I'm a 5 spd), cpl feet of 5/8 hose and a cpl feet 3/8 hose, a big bag of asstd zippy ties, 2" exhaust clamps(2), thats not a first aid kit..lol... it's full of asstd hose clamps, rags, gloves, a small camping shovel and a jacket over the top of it all b4 I close the lid. I am sure I forgot something.
In the trunk...lol... the lil side compartments inside the rear gate to the left and right is jumper cables, folding 4 way lug wrnch, some rope and who knows....I keep my Haynes manual under my seat.

The box is awesome....all that crap used to go into a duffle bag and next to it around it under it...now its all secured and it doesnt RATTLE.....ramble ramble ramble....also when I go out well you know OUT out, I have a blue 3 gallon water bottle I fill up and take.

You guys keep all that IN your trucks!?!?! Damn. I'd love to see your garages.

I have jumper cables, jack, 4 way, a vice grip, flashlight, and sometimes a few random wrenches/screw drivers.

Though I think the a metric socket set and wrench set is a fine idea. maybe one of those little wire brushes for battery terminals. Good thread though!

Only a cheap Stanley socket set in one of those plastic molded cases under my seat, and jumper cables under the passenger seat.
