What are these gaskets for?

ahh , then if your insisting on doing it ..
like the 5vzfe VC's I powder coat , you'll need to "grind" the rivets off .. I use a die grinder , and trim the mushroom part of the rivet , leaving the post .
I then use a silicone gasket material to "glue" them back on when I'm all done with what I'm doing ..

so why do you want to take the plate off ? you really don't ever have to remove this , unless your sandblasting the cover or something like that ..

If a person could replace the gasket easily then why not? But, evidently that is not the case for my covers. Wonder why Toyota made covers with removable PVC baffles and some without. Maybe it was a production and cost thing, who knows. At least now I know what the extra gaskets are for. ;-)
Thanks all.
Thanks all.
