what seats fit in a first gen?

Almost all of the welds in my driver seat are broken, and the seat leans back and to the right , there is pretty much no original cloth left and much of the padding is gone. My question is what other seats will fit in here, maybe something that I can use for the passenger seat also that could slide forward or at least lean forward so passengers can get in the rear. So what kind of ideas do you have? I am looking as cheap as possible and does not need to be in good condition, I am just looking for bucket seats that are not broken. I have seat covers

ive heard that acura seats fit in there. ive seen alot of runners on boards like this that have them. and you could always go to a junk yard and find some SR5 seats, those are nice and they fit right in....

I got a set of leather buckets out of an older Prelude. The rails needed some adjustment so the bolt holes would line up, but I love them. Easy to clean, and they hug your sides while wheeling.

the ones you want are the "sport" 7 way adjustable seats. they are rather expensive, though.

i've always liked my '85 pickup seats. very comfortable, but the "plastic" mesh always feels wierd on my back when i don't have a shirt on(SR5 seats had the comfy cloth covering). need to find some better seat covers!

I really never liked the cloth 60/40 bench. After my last set was all ripped up, I never could find a set of covers anywhere in stock. I really prefer the buckets. They really hold you in place while wheelin'. Plus, I rarely had anyone in the middle seat. 3 people in the front of a Toy? Come on. My friends would always want to be in the extra cab, or (if they were to big) in the bed. And now there is plenty of room for the center console.

I had these in my '85 4Runner for a while:

They are out of a Corolla wagon. I didn't have them set up right really so they didn't adjust very well and they don't have the passenger release mechanism that a correct set have. Oh, and their ugly
But, I bet you can get a set cheap since people don't think of those old Corolla wagons. They are SR5 seats and frankly I think they held me in place with better support than the real 4Runner SR5 seats I replaced them with.
If you weren't so far away (I'm in GJ, Colorado), I'd sell you these. They are still just riding in the back of the '85. I tried selling them once, but had some time crunches and didn't get things taken care of and now I've just been too lazy to do anything with them.
p.s. I forgot to add that they have a seat height adjustment mechanism in them that sits really low in the back. I had to put shims under them to compensate, but considered simply removing the mechanism entirely before I found some SR5s and simply removed the entire seats instead.

The best seats that I have ever installed in a 1st gen are Ford Probe GT sets, essentially a Mazda, all metric. Fit, feel, and support are wonderful and they hold up very well. Some modification the the rear holes are needed. If you get the power like I did, I still have the factory wiring diagram to hook it up.
