what gears?

I have a '95 SR5 4Runner 4x4 with auto tranny. Are my stock gears 4.88? I have searched and there seems to be much speculation. From what I can tell, the code for 4.88 gears is G188, this will be found where on the 3rd member?

it was a easy BLINKING SEARCH button question as this has been covered a bit:

Hmm. That sounds interesting. The code for 4.88 on this list appears to be G14x. On the same list G18x would be for 5.71 gears. Not sure those are stock, but since it's 'on' the list,, it can't be ruled out. Check here for more info:

Mine are G25 - which is equivalent to 4.56 gears. I know that mine are correct, because I jacked up one rear tire ( I have an open diff) and turned the wheel TWO revolutions and counted the number of times the pinion turned.

thanks

Thanks for the info. I am not new to how confusing automotive forums can be due to mixed accounts. I am however new to Toyotas, namely 4runners.
