What do you have for your 3VZE Exhaust?

Hi, I'm looking at exhausts for my 92 Toy4Runner 3oh Budgeted of course..Not getting headers..to much dough, and not enough time...just curious to see what you guys have and what your opinions are on what I could get for $500 or Under that would sound good..on my 3VEEZY

Looking for a high flow cat, and a good muffler

Heard Good things about Magnaflow..but not sure if Magnaflow cat and muffler will be under $500 including install

Anyways let me know what you guys think,

Thanks

Josh

I put on the Magnaflow hi-flo cat & exhaust (California-spec) a year ago and I'm fine with it.... its a little loud and sometimes sets off my neighbors BMW car alarm... other than that, no problems. I do feel a (assguage) 3-5 hp increase.... total spent + installation about $285.

Headers are next... this year I hope. But I've been saying that for about 3 years now....

If you don't have emission checks in OR, you can punch out the CAT & install an OEM exhaust; sounds good but not too loud:

I bought a CAT-back exhaust, all one piece from the dealer locally in 2007 for $129.00. Ended up being about $200 with all the hanger rubber & hardware.

It was Doug Thorley Headers, 2.25 piping, test pipe, no cat, and a borla turbo style muffler with a 3" tip on the 3.0. I have a thread on here that gives all the information

TNRabbit..
Unfortunately we do have Emissions testing..kinda sucks

Thinking about Doing either Magnaflow high flow cat and muffler..or Magnaflow Cat, and Flowmaster Delta 40..Still debating Im gnna call a few exhaust shops to see..Estimates on pricing..should I keep the stock piping at 2.25, or go up to 2.50, 2.75?

Spool rear. Street pressure in the tires. It was in the spring, so the snow was wicked slick/icy. I can make that in 2wd when its dry in the summer.

I recently got my 4Runner back on the road after head gaskets and a valve job. Couldn't bring myself to put the crossover back on - ever - so I bucked up for a set of Thorley headers and 2.25" pipe.

At first I ran that straight through a Flowmaster 50 SUV but it was too loud. It sounded great at idle, a bit too aggressive during acceleration, but sounded like a semi hitting the jake brakes during decceleration. I had the exhaust shop weld a resonator in place where the cat would typically be.

Now it sounds GREAT... a nice throaty rumble at idle, aggressive during acceleration and more modest with no crackle during decceleration. I only have 80 miles on the new setup, but so far so good. The headers cost $560 from Summit Racing, and the exhaust shop charged approx. $260 for pipes, muffer, resonator and welding.
