I decided to go with atlantic blue.

I'll try to take some before and after pics. although right now the entire truck is taken apart, rear/front bumper, front grill, strips, etc etc. it's easy to take them apart, will see how it is to put it back together.

 

so my truck is done and the project was pretty much one step away from being a total disaster. the job came out horrible ! dings everywhere ! no wonder auto body shops charge an arm/leg....it's a pain in the ass to prep the body !

I pretty much just sanded the entire truck, applied the primer, sanded more without filling out the dings and no body work. then i just painted the entire thing with a mid quality paint material.....the job came out .....uhhhggguh bad. I'll post some picss tomorrow

 

on the positive side the truck looks a lot cleaner than before since I took the time to take it apart, cover all the areas that needed paint and slowly carefully put everyhting back together (even fixed a few issues). both doors had loose ˟˟˟˟ inside, the weather strips weren't installed right, bumpers were crooked and a lot of crap was just not right. all that has been fixed.

I spent a total of $350 dls for paint material, Goni paint gun, and a orbital sander machine. so it wasn't as bad money wise.

 

Iv always liked this color. Or kubota orange.

 

but i do feel it was a fail because of the time spent on this project and effort I really wanted the truck to look straight and clean clean. oh well I keep telling myself is not the end of the world.

yes that color on that 4x4 truck looks good. hell 4x4 trucks with nice suspension already looks good regardless of paint color

 

Sinful, you're scaring me. I've been wrestling with the idea of painting my white 4Runner a whiter white. Every time I think I've fixed all the dents I find another bump. I think the kids are playing hockey in the garage when I'm not looking. Now that it's almost ready of course it's getting cold so I'm thinking I'll get a better paint job when temps are back to the 70's. I don't want to do a lot of work and not be happy with it.

Blue is my favorite color though, I'd really like to see pictures.

 

I recently did mine with a rustoleum charcoal grey (roll on job). Think it turned out pretty good.

Matches the orgional dark grey of the doorjams pretty well too.

The only issue with this color is you dont see dirt or mud on it. Which can be a bad or good thing

 

I want to bed line the bottom quarter or so of my runner and the remainder a blue, red or OD. I also would like to bed line the entire interior and remove the carpet and the back seats because they never get used anyway. but that probably isn't going to happen. It would be tough and unique. not as comfortable though. I think It would look okay. what are your thoughts?

1. Flat Black (I know you said you don't want black, but I'm still offering it up as a suggestion)
2. Krylon Camo paint.
3. Red (obviously because my truck is painted red. Red is awesome.)
4. Yellow. Specifically 1990 Corvette Championship Yellow. My dads racecar is painted that color.
5. Bed liner
6. Olive Drab
7. Early '90s hotrod style paint jobs where every single panel is painted the same color.
8. Late '70 Psychodelic panel paint scheme. xD

I'll second your shopping for a paint job.
I use HOK stuff, and I'm trying their "wild cherry" Kolor out on the tailgate. I am sick of looking at my blue truck for twenty plus years and just want to be a little nuts with the paint. The hood is part black, white and yellow, and no one likes it! LOL :-D but painting is FUN!

 

Wreel, that looks great! Rusto grey is a great choice. Did you spray it or do the roll on?

Sinful, I really like tha Atlantic blue. You did a good job for $350. I would color sand and polish it after about a month.

 

It was actually a lot cheaper, paint alone was like $70 bucks for two liters, $60 for two liters of mid quality clear coat, $20 bucks for 1 liter of primer, $20 for two liters of quality thinner, two liters of cheap thinner for $3, about 10 sheets of sand paper 220, 320, 400 and 600, 1 liter of bondo, 1 liter of plaster (which I hardly used) and a few misc stuff. And the Goni paint gun was like $40 bucks and the orbital air sander was like another $40 bucks (didn't really need that).

 

If I had to do it again.....I would invest in learning how to prep the body. learn how to apply bondo,plaster and how to smooth it out with a flat sander pad board, sander block etc. thats where the magic is.
