I am planning a junkyard run this weekend. And I am wanting to switch my 60/40 bench seat for a nice pair of buckets in my pick up. So what buckets are you using?? I Know some people are running Honda civics, or 4 runner, etc. So if you could please tell me year make and model of the buckets seats you are using in your truck, what you paid, and how comfortable are they?? I have an '88 SR5 4Runner with original seats. I've driven it since 1993 and the seats are still comfy, though I do have a set of Wet Okole covers on them. I'd say look high and low for a pair of these, theyre great.

 

One of the previous owners put 2nd gen 4runner buckets in my 84 and they are insanely comfortable ... I can sleep in them when I get them adjusted. They got leg adjustments lumbar adjustments rib adjustments they tilt back and slide back

 

x2^ my 88 sr5 PU has THE most comfortable seats. period!
they are way more comfotable than my DD, a 95 acura integra.
they are six way adjustable, unless i missed an adjustment or two.
i pulled a twelve hour round trip when i bought my last mx bike, same trip would have killed in my acura. i get numbbutt in about two and a half hours in it, but not in my yota after twelve hours. toyota technology rules...

 

So what seats are you using the 4runner ones? Or am I just confused.. @donomite49

 

I'm running 2nd gen 4runner buckets in my 88 that originally had a vinyl bench. Very comfortable.

Paid $150 for a PRISTINE pair. Kind of high but everything else I found was trashed for $75-$100.

I'm using a 5 gallon pail.
Not very comfortable but the price was right...

 

I'm using stock 1985 buckets. The fabric is torn, but they are really comfortable. I'm planning on getting them reupholstered instead of replacing. The biggest pain is finding seat covers that fit the small seats, I have baggy mossy oak seat covers on it now.

 

I have leather seats out of an MR2 Spyder in my '85 4Runner. They look pretty cool, but they're not very comfortable and I probably wouldn't do it again if I had the choice.

 

I bought a set of 94 PU buckets seats to replace the 60/40 bench in my 94 PU. They were not direct bolt-in replacements- close, though. I needed to have a single bracket welded for the driver's side seat to make it work. The passenger-side seat went right in, however.

I also bought a 4Runner center console from a junk yard to go with the seats. Finally, I had a local fab shop make a "two-hole" cup holder that I bolted into the floor just ahead of the center console.

I still have the stock 91 P/U Xtra Cab SR5 seats. They are still quite comfortable after 22 years, I recommend them. Like the others said, they adjust well. You can even add spacers in the back under the bracket if you want more height, I'm too tall to do that though.

 

i am running stock OEM seats. my truck has all options available in 88 (far as i know) except the 3.0 v6.
i think they are the same as the runner seats.

I'm not trying to thread jack but what is the beat seat covers to buy that fit tight and snug on a first gen pickup

 

is that the padded pail, or the pail that gives you the butt ring after a few minutes??

bone collector, you might need to find another pair of toyota seat brackets if you go with another brand of seat.
i changed the bench to buckets in my 1st gen pu.
used a pair of mid 80's z28 buckets, just used the brackets from the original bench seat and another set of yota brackets from pick a part. that way you will be able to use some or all the original mounting points in your truck.

catfish, you would need to check at the usual parts houses for seat covers.
i had some covers in my courier pu that fit very well. try wally world, aka wall mart, you can easily return them if they don't fit.
