What kind of condition is the ball joint in? If that is shot, then there's no point in rebuilding the shaft. Autozone carries a duralast (i believe) part that is very similar to OEM, and I think it even has a bigger shaft diameter. Mine was $89, and its a relatively easy install. I would suggest just buying a new part. And do the arm before the alignment, or you'll have to do it again after anyhow.

How long has it lasted?

Personally, I did the bronze bushing rebuild and it has held up pretty well to some pretty tough wheeling with front/rear lockers...

try rebuilding it for under $10 and 1/2 hour of your time before spending ten times that much to replace it. that way you'll at least get a look at its guts and see if it is good to go or needs to go in the spare parts box.

new ones usually come with lifetime unlimited warranties. I'm gonna swap mine out for like i think my 5th one.. all free, then actually put a brace on it.

It's one down side to BJ spacers.

Do the spacers increase the load on the actual idler arm, or are you breaking more because the lift exposed the arm more to rocks/etc?
