Went out to lunch and came back with a motor.
I went to lunch yesterday and started checking out craigslist while waiting for my food, called about a temp sensor, went to the guys house and ended up leaving with a truckload of stuff. I left with:
1x complete 22re w/ a snapped timing chain (no other damage)
1x used head w/ no problems
1x brand new ported and polished head
1x stage 2 cam (I installed it this morning, took about 2 hours)
1x complete gasket set
1x turbo header
The best part is all of this cost me $250.00
I need some advise on the block though, i'm not going to replace the pistons and rings (they're still good) but is there any way to clean the cylinders and pistons up real nice? Should/Can I remove them to clean them? And them obviously I am putting a new timing chain/cover on along with a few other things.

If the chain snapped while the engine was running, there is going to be some damage. At least a bent valve or two. So keep that in mind.
As for the block, if you don't want to replace the rings and/or pistons (and then the little end rod bearings, and then big end)... don't take it apart. Maybe bring a cylinder to TDC, wrap some cotton, jute or string into the space between the piston and the cylinder and brass wire wheel off the crap, then pull the cotton out when you're done cleaning the piston crown off, then move to the next cylinder.

if you dont mind replacing the rings and bearings then you can dissassemble it all you need to do is lable each piston/rod so you know which cylinder it came from...if you know someone with a beadblaster then you can use that to clean up the pistons and rods but just do the best you can to not hit the bearing journals....and a cylinder hone would clean up the cylinders good enough as long as there isnt any gouges in the walls...you have to gap the new rings if you want a good fit in the cylinder anyways. done factory rebuilds on my own a bunch of times its pretty simple.
and he could have bent a valve so check the tops of the piston and check for gouges in the top of them, if there are no gouges then the valves didnt drop and you should be fine...wouldnt hurt to bring the head to a shop and have the valves and seals checked...also get the springs pressure tested....you dont want to spend a ton of money and then have it grenade on you.
good luck with the build.

Hi
I have to ask because I work in a shipyard and on single ships I have set into place several items that look similar but are classified differently.
For example on a particular navy vessel there are 4 engines, bow thruster motor, main propulsion motor and a couple of other things we call motors and engines.I know that usually electric power units are motors but even internal combustion units are referred to as motors.
