So, The best protection for your alternator is a pair of platex and a recipt?
Not knocking the suggestions. I rather like the idea of nylons to keep the grit out.
How much air does the alternator need for cooling? Or rather at what tempurature would an alternator decide to fail?
I would guess that depends on load?

if you wanted protection for your alternator then im guessing that a magnum XXL should work... heck, itll prolly be able to cover your intake and your dizzy too at the same time!!

I recently water proofed all the wiring on my '86 Jeep Comanche, I converted all connectors to GM weather pack style connectors, where I had just splices was soldered heat shrink tubing with a dab of rtv before shrinking, and of course ample usage of dielectic grease, went throught the bottom of my relay box with RTV (future service there will be a royal pain) I also stripped all the convoluted tubing and replaced it with power braid wrap for better drainage. behind the dash was given the same treatment. mine was done more for pressure washing over mud/water holes but it certanly sees those to.
