water pump question

on a 94 3.0 there is a little hole next to the thermostat housing .looks like a mole tunnel coming from the pully .wth is it?
i assume this is the way to tell if the pump is bad because water is coming out of it and never did before who knows?

blurr they call it a by pass tube no big deal
some have some dont im still trying to figure out what the purpose of it is and all i can come up with is it prevents the water from spewing on the bearing like in older v8 water pumps did and if you drove it long enough that way the pully would be wobbling until it fell of .and on this motor i assume if that happened itd be a lot more trouble since the pump is timing belt driving ......not like its ownbelt ona v8

It's a weep hole. That's where to look for coolant to indicate the water pump is bad.
