Water leak

I have a 1986 toyota pickup that is leaking water. It is coming from the cowl behind the hood. I have pour water down the cowl and see water dripping into my floor boards. What is the best way to go about fixing this. Can I take the cowl off and seal it from there or is there an easier way to fix it.
thanks in advance.

You are referring to rain water correct? The cowl piece comes off with screws that are accessible when the hood is up.

yes it is rain water. Is there caulking or something inside the cowl that could be leaking. If so is there room to get a caulking gun inside to fix It?

Can't say until you figure out and/or tell us where it is coming from. No idea if it is a rust issue or other problem. A caulking gun might need an extension if it is a caulking issue. There is a drainage that could be plugged up.

Pour some water down the side of the cowl and see if it is clear first.
You may be able to clear blockage from below - not sure if you can from above.

Where is the water entering the cab?

where I can see it is coming from behind the ecu (a big reason I need to fix it). There is some calling already there from factory but it looks old and cracked. I put a little silicone lastnight but may have missed whole because it's so hard to get up in there.

Check where the radio antenna enters the cab. I had water leaking in the same area and it was because it was running down the antenna. I put silicone around the antenna, where it enters, and it solved the issue. I think I had to pull some wheel-well cladding or splash guard to access it.

Yes, If O.P. wants help he should help us see what's in front of him.
Caulking could easily crack, or peel off, especially if there is rust.
Also see Terrys87's thread. He's a body restoration expert.

I know the pictures suck but this was the best I can get in the spot it's at. The little wire is the antenna wire and that fat bundle of wires is the wires going to the ecu if that helps any. As best I can tell it runs down that clear silicone I put on yesterday and runs down the old caulking into the floor. It may come even higher where the older caulking is. I will try to get some pictures of the cowl tomorrow when I pull it off.

Can you see if the water is coming in where the fat bundle of wires goes through the grommet?
