I looked at my truck this morning an my fuel lines ran right close to the exhaust on my 3.0 too. I can see where with the headers it would be interesting. I rerouted my fuel lines during the engine swap. Header tape should do it. I've had it on several different vehicles and it works wonders. if all else fails which hopefully it wont ceramic coating is another option. If done right you can darn near touch the pipe and not get burned. I'm glad that it didn't turn out worse!

thanks. but, then again, who doesn't?
I think we should be fine. actually, I wouldn't let Joe drive it if it was questionable at all.
the headers do get very hot, as evidenced by a nice scar I have from a millionth of a second touch....but radiantly not so much. because I was able to hold the fuel line without getting burned.

scary situation for sure. i always stop to check on gas smells immediately.
glad it was not a terrible incident.
i hope you update this thread to let us know how the fix is holding up.
i know a week or two it looks good, but update in a month, two and six.

will do.
I fault myself for knowing there was a chance and taking a precaution but never going back to check to see how it was doing.
as I've said in other places on YT, mostly the stuff I preach is because of hard lessons I've learned at my own expense. this could have ended very badly with us getting injured...or worse, or losing Joe's 4runner.
