Agreed - the problem with mine is definitely the rock rash. As they get the peened over part worn in, they are getting back to hand-operable.

The 1/4 (or 1/3) turn is both good and bad. Molly has SFA AISINs on hers and we have had them get unlocked on rocks before.

One thing that helped with my old Aisins was to file the center locking handle flush with the face of the hub. It is soft aluminum and files down pretty quick. This keeps it from sticking out getting caught on rocks.

BTDT. When it happened the first time I was like, WTF? I thought something broke. Next time I take my hubs apart I will modify the knobs and repaint them. And touch up the rock rash too.

Yes. This isn't apparent at a glance, as warn hubs are considered the benchmark in the domestic 4x4 industry. I'd take my aisins over warn hubs anytime. If you're buying new hubs, you'll find warn hubs much more affordable, as the price of new warn hubs can be had for the price of used aisins. And there's a reason for that too
