W56 C Transmission Rebuild Cluster / Counter Shaft Play
Hey Yota Tech Fam,
I have a 1989 Toyota Pickup regular cab, 4x4 Manual 5 speed 22RE. I'm currently rebuilding my transmission (W56C) and have both the main shaft and cluster shaft re-assembled but have NOT installed the tail/main housing yet. I've bench tested each gear and double checked as much as I can to determine it's good to go. However, my cluster shaft/counter shaft seems to have a lot of forward to backward movement and overall play. I know the play will most likely be subsided once the housing is installed since the bearing will rest in the housing race(s). However, the front to back movement seems concerning. Will the housing and lock ring on the bearing prevent this once installed? I've included a video below for reference. Please help!
