Yea it's been locked for a long Time steering the front is a pig but with hydro assist it will be fine and spool for the rear is the only way to go I trailer my rig most places anyways unless its local wheelin and its not a dd and any locker other then a lunchbox will still chowder rear tires so why not get a spool which is the strongest out there and cheapest.

Hey Vance, read your entire thread tonight and doing an SAS on my rig soon but I was wondering if it would be a problem turning a spool up front with 36's? Because i can get a good deal on an assembled 5.29 diff with a spool and I was thinking of running it up front. just wondering what your opinion is... and I'm not wanting to run hydro assist for the time being. thanks!

In all honesty with out hydro assist it will be miserable I hate trying to steer with my lock right with out hydro assist once I get into the big stuff. It's defintly doable but if it were me I'd hold off until u can at least do hydro assist and don't plan on being able to steer at high speeds in 4wd.

Yeah I think I'm going to hold off on the spool up front, I might just run open, I'm kinda undecided, but I need to find a diff quick because my axle is all painted and ready to be built. What would you suggest for the rear locker running 5.29s and 36's? a lunchbox locker? thanks!

Rear always go spool unless you dd this thing err where but spool is the cheapest and most reliable a lunch box won't be able to handle those 36's and 5.29's full time lunch box up front is ok that's how I roll when it breaks which I hope it doesn't ill prolly have hydro assist then and possibly spool the front because that would be cheaper then buying a Detroit or grizzly.

Well I'm going to DD it... I'm running a detroit right now on 32's and i think my detroit is broke cuz it never un locks its in constant posi... and it does fine, havent broke any shafts or anything.. just wondering What I should do for lockers on my truck? I'm not sure I want to run spool rear while DD'ing it. but technically my truck kinda has a spool in it right now lol

Yea a Detroit will eat tires almost as bad as a spool and I mean if your running scampers there soft anyways so there going to wear out fast anyhow dd my truck is mostly a trailer queen anymore just easier only time I don't trailer is if I'm close to home. But honestly for the price of a new Detroit or grizzly which that's what I would run in the rear if you didn't want a spool. You could buy a spool for the rear and a used lunch box for the front. My dad put a grizzly in his rear and he loves it. Bahahaha that sounds kinda dirty anyways back to topic. It doesn't seem to chirp his tires or anything. So that's where I'd go if you wanna spend some cash and save your tires. And Yukon grizzly a are cheaper then detroits and the same locker.

Well after a little more test driving with them there pretty nice ill air my tires up tomorrow and drive it some more to see how it is. But when I was showing them to my brother and could spin the tires on bare pavement I knew it was drastically better!

All that and an air compressor to boot!! No more turning wrenches by hand all air or electric! Will make trail fixes nice and easy as well!!!
