v6 carrier compatible in 4 cyl third member?

Will the rear v6 carrier assy. fit into a 85 4runner 22re third member?

No the carrier bearings the V6 3rd are bigger than the 4 cyl 3rd. You can get a V6 3rd and put the complete assembly in the 4 cyl axle housing though.

I'm pretty sure a 4cyl can be used in a V6, with a larger bearing, but don't think it works the other way.

The 4 cyl and V6 thirds will both fit in the same housing though - why do you want to swap just the carrier?

i have a v6 carrier with lockright locker installed in it, hoping it would fit into 4 cyl third

the thing to do is get a complete V6 third member and put it in your 4 cyl housing. V6 3rd's are stronger and are a little extra comfort in a 4 cyl.

Ohhhh - just move the lockright to the other carrier. The difference is the bearings - the rest of it is the same IIRC.

Unless your on tires >35"s you won't notice the difference in the strength of the two diffs.
