your 89 should have no air bag theres a few screws holding the horn part on take those out and there should be if i remember a 19mm nut holding the steering wheel to the shaft.... make sure the wheels are good and straight dont take the nut completely off leave a few turns on it now grab the wheel and give it a good yank

Umm....don't know what to tell you on the airbag.....didn't know '89's had them. But, to turn it right side up, if and when you get the front cover off.....there should be screws in the back.....you'll see a nut threaded on to the column. Loosen that and then pull the wheel off the splines with a puller. You can rent them at an auto store. O'Reilly, for example.

Some have had luck just wiggling the wheel off, but I never have.

trevor...what?

im pretty sure that your truck has no airbags...
seeing as tho it got the worst rating of an SUV EVER, there wouldnt really be a need for them...
gotta love the 1/2 star rating on the drivers side door and a 3 star on the passengers side...

Yep, mine was crooked as ever. Removed the cover, removed the bolt, and hit the edge of the steering wheel with my hand multiple times before it popped off...then aligned it (easier if the wheels are straight!!!)
