I was getting tired of the $20 Edelbrock shocks I had, they were way too soft and well, performed like $20 shocks. I read through the LC coils/bj spacer/longer shock thread and decided to go with OME N98s for the front and Rancho 5009s for the rear.

The front install went smooth and I got to drive it around with just the new fronts for a few miles and I could already tell a huge difference. The truck felt more like an actual truck than some crazy bouncing ride. The 5009s were a whole different story. Technically, Rancho makes this version for F150s, so the bottom eye of the shock doesn't match up with the stock mount on the axle. Basically what you have to do is get the metal sleeve out any way you can (I chose to follow robinhoods method of disassembling a hacksaw and reassembling it inside the eye and sawing the sleeve in half) and then drill out the inside hole with the biggest drill you have and then beat the crap out of the shock until it slides onto the lower mount.

After I got all of that done, I gotta say, the ride is a million times better now. I'd recommend upgrading your shocks if you still have the edelbrocks with the lc coils and bj spacers.

I went with the OME Nitro Chargers and medium springs (OME 900s, I believe) on the rear of my 4Runner. You're right about the difference it makes. I ride about 3" higher in the back now. I'll need to do the fronts because, with the back done, I realize how crappy the fronts are...boing, boing, boing...

 

I'm going with 1.5 inch longer than stock kyb monomax's when I do my bj spacer. Lifetime warranty and cheap price through my work.
