Update on my speedo not working issue

I posted last week that my speedo stopped working right after I changed the auto trans fluid. For the past week and a half I have driven my 4runner everyday. When I first take off, the speedo would work but only for a minute or two. It would usually "stick" at 26 mph or 46 mph. It would say stuck until I shut off the engine, then it would fall back to zero. Anyway, today it wouldn't move at all. Stayed at zero all morning. How I have checked the wires, banged on the dash, just about everything I could think of short of replacing the instrument cluster and the speed sensors.

So we are out 4wheeling today, the speedo is not working, and I pass one of the turns I want to make. Instead of turning around, I put it in reverse and go backwards pretty fast. At that very moment, the speedo shows 15mph. From that point on, it's been working perfectly. I have absolutly no explanation for this but I am so glad it's working again. We were out for 13 hours today, drove over 300 miles in the hills, starting and stopping many times, whatever happened, I'm glad I didn't have to spend a lot of money.

Anyone have any idea what happened? Do you think changing the trans fluid had something to do with the problem, maybe some dirt loosened and got lodged, then going in reverse, again loosened it?
