Unknown Wiring harness conector?

Hi I've been reassembling my 1993 SR5 after a blown HG and I cant seem to figure out where this last connector goes on my wiring harness. Anyone got any idea's, I check the Throttle body, distributor and the top piece of the intake but now I'm stumped

My guess is the knock sensor.

(You might want to leave the cell phone at home and pick up a $50 digital camera. Just sayin'.)

Knock Sensor

It's definitely not the knock sensor(1 wire). The knock sensor wire that connects to it and runs under the intake manifold is female sensor end/male wire harness end. All the other sensors/senders/switches and distributor have male connectors too. Their wire harness connectors are all female. The wire harness connector your showing is male(2 wire).

I have no clue where it goes. Are you sure it was connected to something before?

The "pigtail" that runs to the knock sensor is shielded, so there is only one wire at the sensor itself (the shield does not connect to the sensor), but there are two wires (including the grounded shield) at the "harness" end of the pigtail.

I didn't bother taking mine apart (it lies under the throttle body, and as many of us know that is not a wire you want to be pulling on), but the FSM says that the harness end of the pigtail is female, so the harness-side connector should be male. I believe chad967 is holding the harness-side, and I agree that it looks male.

Better photos might help, but the FSM says the shield wire is brown, and the sensor wire black.

If chad967 can't find the mating connector, it could be that he is just missing the pigtail. Which is not real good news, considering what it will take to get back to it. (Remove the intake manifold ...)

I see your point. There are 2 wires on the wiring harness connector end of the knock sensor wire, and it's female, not male.

What threw me off was mine, an 88, doesn't look the same. The wire connectors on both ends of the knock sensor wire/pigtail are female, and look similarly roundish too*, on a 88-91. I knew I'd never seen it before, that much was true...but 92-95 aren't the same!

Here's a new 88-91 knock sensor wire/pigtail.

My 88 wiring harness connector for the knock sensor wire/pigtail looks like this.

The 88 knock sensor pigtail wiring harness connector looks like this.

The knock sensor from 88-91. *See how it's rounded like the connector is shown above?

This is the 92-95 knock sensor wire/pigtail.

Looks like a pretty good match to me.

yeah it was the knock sensor wire. She's actually all back together now and running great. I was able to just extend the wire and run it behind the rear timing belt cover so I wouldn't have to take the bottom piece of the intake manifold off. Now just to get all the little bugs out of her. But thats what happens when you buy a car that isn't running I guess lol

Ah, good catch. I looks like the sensor wire (pigtail) changed with 91-08 production date, from part number 82219-89103 to 82219-35010. The knock sensor changed at the same time, from two part numbers before, to two different ones after (I think there is a different knock sensor for the 4-cyl and 6-cyl).

It also looks like the pigtail has always been two wires, with the shield connected only at the harness end. But apparently the harness-end connector changed significantly.
