95 yota p.u...4x4..replacing origional u joints on driveshaft..looking at the joint it looks like some type of plastic filler which is hardened is used to keep u joint in its place..is this normal and whats best way to knock the plastic out..are snap rings or c clips on the inside? thanx....G

 

with a propane torch heat it up,the plastic will melt and start to came off from a hole like a live worm ,pretty funny the first time. there is no clip but in the new ones.

 

ok thanx..ive done alot of u joints and never saw one with plastic..but i mainly work on corvettes..thanx for the info....g
