Turbo-non turbo flywheel clutch kit??

My 86 Toyota truck 4x4 use to have a turbo engine and likely still has the turbo tranny.Would the flywheels be a different size than the regular 2.4 and do they use different clutch kits on the different fly wheels?

Yes. Check out Marlin Crawler's website. They sell a turbo clutch kit

I am not sure if the size is different but the pins on the flywheel are different so the clutch plates will not interchange.

Back when I had the turbo engine in my truck I was running a w-56 with a non turbo flywheel and a turbo clutch and everything worked fine. It was a Luk Pro Gold turbo clutch to be exact.

I don`t think so!!

Maybe you also had the wrong clutch in the correct box as well

The reason I found out the hard way was some one sent the wrong clutch in the right box .

It was a good time trying to get the Luk Turbo clutch on a stock Toyota Flywheel .( I had ordered the stock clutch ) It just will not fit and there I was thinking I was a complete klutz to fumble fingered to install a clutch.

After about 30 minutes I crawled out got the old stock flywheel and found the pins on the flywheel just don`t line up to the holes on the clutch plate.

Now the time to move the pins on the flywheel compared to buying the correct Turbo flywheel for the clutch was a no brainer.

I did check every thing for fit before bolting the flywheel on.

Turbo Flywheel turbo clutch plate unless things are modified .

I no doubt have both style clutch plates around some place so a side by side comparison could be done but i know I am correct.

Sorry but wyoming9 is correct. Even if you tried installing the larger 9-5/16" Turbo disc with the smaller 8-7/8" non-Turbo pressure plate, it would not work because, well, the Turbo disc is larger and will bind with the smaller non-Turbo pressure plate (the disc will contact the flange of the pressure plate itself).

The truck would still be able to move however with essentially a "solid" connection between the engine and the transmission. You could start it in gear and then RPM match every gear change
