I thought I read there was a problem with that swap becuase you won't find a 22rte ecu for a manual cause they never made manuals for the turbo...

you just need clutch kit and a tranny preferably a toyota r151 tranny (found in turbo pickups) and drivelines might be different as far as the ecu goes im not too sure about that. plus good luck finding a tranny thats good for a reasonable price.

That statement is 100% wrong.

I have a 5sp turbo trans in my 87 4Runner, with dual cases. The turbo trans came from an 86 truck, so yes 5sp turbo manual trannys do exist.

What you should have said was "they did not make a Turbo 4Runner with a manual trans from the factory, as all turbo 4runners were automatic"

All he needs is a turbo ecu from a 5sp 86-87 truck. I have one in stock here at Nix99.

Aside from that, he will need the following parts:

-Trans
-Case
-Drivelines
-Clutch pedal bracket
-Clutch master
-clutch slave
-Clutch lines and brackets
-Shifter assy
-Front 1/2 center console

Best way to do it is find a turbo donor truck, but that is almost impossible. the cost vs benefit ratio to switch a 4Runner from auto to manual makes it not worth it.

Our 86 Toyota pickup at my last job had a Turbo and a 5 speed, but I don't think I've ever seen a Turbo 4Runner that had a 5 speed. Then again I've seen all of maybe 3 Turbo 4Runners that I actually got to take a good look at.

You would need the Turbo trans, the R151F
