I would want to see standardized filtration test results done by independent labs, and run a comparison against the "off the shelf" filters available. The damned thing is a bit pricey too.

$200 for an oil filter that you clean yourself, uh, no thanks.

$150 divided by $5 = 30 Purolater PureOne filters for that price...

30 filters changed at 3,000 miles each will bring you to 90,000 miles.
5,000 miles = 150,000 miles
7,000 miles = 210,000 miles

Good for the environment maybe, but I'll stick with the PureOnes, and always have something fresh, and never second guess if it was cleaned well enough, or if there are still small particles lodged in there that you'd need an electromagnet to pull out.

I have a Scott's SS mesh oil filter in my YZ450f. Supposedly it filters better than the paper offering for the bike and you have the convenience of being able to change the oil without going to the dealer and paying $12 for a tiny oil filter that looks like an inline fuel filter. Plus the Scott's was only $70.

It makes a whole lot more economic sense to do in the case of the dirtbike. Its oil gets changed every other ride, and it only takes about 6 changes to pay for the SS filter.

In the case of one like the above, it is something that just doesn't make much sense.

Looks trick though...
