Angry truck keeps over heating

1991 toyota pick up 3.0 v6 4x4

I stopped driving my truck in October 2013 to avoid it being towed because it didn't have the new tags. when i drained the radiator i noticed that the water came out orange hinting that its rust water. changed out the water pump because it wasnt working and it got a new thermostat as well. but the truck still keeps overheating. can't seem to figure out what the problem is. Any ideas?

Blown head gasket, Most likely #6 cylinder.

If you do get it fixed you will also need a new O2 sensor, and possibly a new Cat if you live in a smog test state.

isn't a blown head gasket usually followed by a lot of white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe? thats not whats happening in my truck. could it be that i may have to flush out the radiator?

if your coolant came out rusty coloured and it wasn't rusty coloured when you put it in...I would suggest flushing your rad.

how was the water pump not working? if the impeller isn't broken, its working. if you have an infrared temp gun you can use that to check for a clogged radiator, harbor freight has them for less than 30 bucks i think. usually, you'll find a hot area on the radiator, and a spot much cooler (50 degrees or more) right next to it.
