truck fire.

So my truck caught on fire tonight. Im devastated... She is and always Will be my baby. It was a fire in the instrument panel, everything from the heater controls and radio over is cooked. So my question is, where can i get a dash wiring harness? I can get a dash and other stuff that burned from.a junkyard but i would like a good wiring harness. Anybody know of where i can get one? Or have a truck they want to.part out? Has anyone rewired one of these and if so can.i get some pointers? Its a 91 sr5 4x4 3vze. I could really use some help

The rest of the interior is undamaged strangely enough. Except the headliner.

Just what caused the fire?? Insurance ??

So which side is cooked the left or the right ??

Have you pulled it all apart to see just what was damaged it could very easily be more then just one harness.

You want a new harness your dealer if it still can be had.

Perhaps time to make this one a parts truck and buy something close to the same.

Not sure what caused it... Just put a new switch and relay for my tail lights so that could be a contributing factor... Yeah insured to the teeth. So that's good but yeah im.kinda on the same page keep it and buy a similar one... How many harnesses are in the dash? I figured one, powers all the stuff out of tge fuse box. Not correct?

well you need to remember all the main wire harnesses come into that part of the cab except for the ecu harness on the other side .

That fuse box in the left hand side has all most all the vehicles electrical goodies .

So it is a hard call to make just what else may be damaged till things start coming apart

I need to get to work so this was just a quick glance at my 92 electrical manual which should be pretty close to the 91

That's a HUGE help! Thanks for that diagram. All i want to do is take like a 4 day vacation from work and tear into it. How difficult is a cab harness to replace anyone you know of ever done one?

i know the feeling, about a yr ago my 4runner caught fire in the engine bay, and burned up a couple things. i was able to get it out and insurance payed it off and i ended up getting everything at local junkyards and craigslist. i know if u look around u can find people parting them out all the time. and good luck at getting it all put back together.

Well depending on what the insurance company had to say. I'd drop it off at the mechanics and let him bill them for not only putting it in but finding and removing one.

Thats a lot of squeezing wires thru holes that are just barely big enough for them and hoping none of the clips break, followed by a lot more squeezing wires thru holes they barely fit thru in a specific order hoping none of them get insulation damage.

It's not so bad once the fenders, dash, vents, heater box, blower box, dash crossmember, seats, and carpet are removed.

I don't recall offhand where that front section is routed. I think it's under the top of the radiator support. And I haven't seen the connections at the fuse box.

There are a few guys on here that have done multiple complete tear downs and partouts or rebuilds.

Also I think the 1990-1995 4runner FSM/wiring diagrams should point out things like harness junctions. Web search outta turn them up.

Exactly my sentiments, im gonna do everything in my power to prevent them from totaling it. My electrician said he can do it on the cheap if i help him. So i guess that's how i gotta play it.
