trouble code 51

trouble code 51
My '91 is throwing a code 51 (switch signal). I have two questions, 1) what switch does this refer to, ignition? 2) could this be causing a miss? Thanks for any help.

Probably not the cause of the miss, but if your TPS is mis-set far enough, almost anything could happen.
