Yes, the external cooler is only present if you have the towing package.
You'd mentioned you had the oil cooler, which is also part of the same towing package.
Maybe your tranny cooler was never installed or deleted. It's located behind the license plate on mine and is a crappy tube & fin cooler that I'm planning to replace w/ a plate & fin cooler as it's a crappy location and only cools effectively at highway speeds I'd image.

Interesting... Clearly you are not talking about the oil cooler built into the bottom of the main radiator...? And, in addition a second tranny oil cooler under the front passenger area...? The guy said t has a towing package, I asked him who installed it he said it came with it.. I looked and the installation and wiring looked legit.. I was under the impression this was stock.
Anyway, doesn't matter at this point... I'll be installing my aftermarket oil cooler with the filter on the feed line. I just have to find a place for it now!

Discussion in regards to replacing radiator every 100k and/or using an all metal construction radiator (plastic stress/failure seems to be usual cause of mixing tranny and radiator fluids and ruining tranny... -- the pink milkshake issue). From what I can tell from my research, you don't want the tranny fluid as cool as possible as some have indicated. You actually want it in the 150-180* range for ideal tranny operation and appropriate tranny fluid viscosity...
Some say the bypass built into some plate coolers is sufficient, but I'd think that'd only apply to standard, non-synthetic tranny fluids. Synthetic will be higher viscosity all the time so will fully cool, which over time would likely never allow the tranny to reach temps to expel moisture accumulating in the fluid... Or at least that's my thought.

Yes so ive learned about the temp range. I have supposedly has a bypass built in. We shall see if that works. Which is also why I want a temperature sensor for the oil line. I will also has the tranny mechanic to see if he has any good advice.

Well, going to report that my transmission feels great, everythign is shifting fine and no leaks. no noises.. etc.. $1300 well spent!!
Now, on to my rebuild thread for the engine issues....
