I have a 90 4runner that I ran fire calls in for 10 years! I parked it last year when the tranny stopped pulling. I just rebuilt the top end and now want to bring it back to life! I am limited on funds and have been looking for a replacement transmission for it but cant get a strait answer on what model truck trans. will swap with it? some say ONLY 1990 but ebay advertises 89-95 will work???? Any help would be great... Thanks, Jason

 

just as a follow up... It totally stopped pulling and I parked it. When I cranked it back up it pulls but with a loud whinning noise?

Are you sure it's not a clutch issue?

 

Sorry I did not give good info... It is a 90' 3.0l a/t w/od it still pulls fine and makes a really loud whine at idle that varies pitch with rpm. it seems to quiet down as it warms up. ( I have been having trans. problems for 3-4 years!! not wanting to go into gear for the first 30 sec. on cold start, jerking into second till warmed up. After warm shifted fine all day.
