transmission questions

so I'm trying to take out the 22-re out of my truck and rebuild it. I've got everything(that I can see) unhooked, its just the long block and the intake manifold on it. I go to raise it out the truck and the trasmission is trying to come with it. All the transmisssion mounting bolts are off and I've gone around the edge with a screwdriver to try and break the seal but no go. I really hope I dont have to remove the transmission too, does anyone know what's going on here?

i don't know about the 22re but on my 3vze the tranny dipstick bolted to the tranny and block so that could be your problem. also there was a metal bracket on each side of the tranny holding it to the bottom of the block. hope this helps

IF all the bolts are out, it could mean the transmission shaft is stuck in the pilot bearing

it needs to come apart more than just prying it with a screwdriver. Just pull it forward and wiggle it around a little. IF all the bolts are out it will come apart.

I just pulled mine a Christmas time. There are 2 bolts at the top of the trans. The best way access them is thru the inside of the cab. Going thru the shifter hole in the floor. You'll need a 24 inch extension to reach them.

already been there. it's prob stuck, if you have a 2" bl you can. take off the head leaving just a slim block unbolt the tranny and slide it out the tunnel.

Did you remove the starter bolts?

You may have to put a jack under the trans and remove / loosen the t-case mount and/or crossmember bolts to be able to jack up the trans. This will likely break the trans free from the block. From here you can reattach the crossmember stuff to secure the trans back in place.

I did a W56 swap and thats the only way I could get it to break free.
