Transmission Front Seal Replacement

Hello.

Do you need to drain the transmission to replace the front bearing retainer seal? I have looked in the FSM and they do not mention just replacing the front bearing retainer seal.

I am about to drop in a new engine and have read that now is the time to replace the seal.

If you are talking about changing the input shaft seal, yes you will need to drain tranny. If you are only talking about that paper gasket for the bolt on cover, then no I don't suppose you need to drain tranny. I'd change the input seal if I were you.

Is it higher than the fill plug? Sort of. It will puke.
Just tilt it a bit and do the seal, if you don't want to drain it.
