Trans swap ??

Yes I looked, and did not find what I am looking for. I have an 89 Runner w/a V6. Would the transmission out of a 91 4cly fit? Would thier be any benefit to doing this swap? I am only thinking about it cause I can get the 91 Tranny cheap, have it rebuilt. Then install it with less down time (waiting on mine to be rebuilt). Thaks for your help. Bryan

I think all V-6's required the same tranny (R150F) and that any 4 cyl tranny would be different.

Different. 4 Bangers had the W56 and V6s had the R150.
For the most part atleast.

The 4 cylinder transmissions will not bolt up to the 3vze. Get a r150 from a 89-95 pickup or 90-95 4runner with the 3vze..

I usually see a r150 + t-case go for around 250-300 bucks.
