Tranny or Engine Problem ????

My truck developed a noise, we thought it was the turbo going bad so I replaced it with the TEC kit, the truck drives and shifts great now but it still has this noise, its in the area of the tranny/ engine interface, sounds like a loud exhaust leak to me but I used a stethoscope and it's definitely internal and I thought tranny related. I took it to a tranny shop and they could not nail it down either. the advice I received was to drive till something brakes and can be identified. Whats my next move ? I don't really want to wait for something to break.

if it makes the noise under a load ,like when in gear with the brake on, it might be a cracked flex plate or loose torque converter bolts.
