Was the TPS fairly well centered in the adjusting slot afterwards? I found it a much more rewarding method than the multimeter.

Definitely made more sense and was easier to do than struggling through the way it was done in that 4crawler article.

The multimeter method does confirm that your TPS has continuity at each terminal.
I find it laborious, and you can do it several times in a row with the TPS landing in a slightly different spot each time. I did mine three times with a meter, and the screw was uncomfortably oriented towards the end of the adjusting slot. When I did it with the timing light the top hold down screw was dead center in the slot when I locked it down.

I assume your AC idled ok before the work? Incorrect pressure in the system can do it(overcharged or undercharged), but assuming no ac service has been done that's unlikely. Have you tried adjusting the AC idle up at the screw on the surge tank?

I was just reading about the AC idle up valve. Does it affect the engine when the AC is not running?

No. The Ac idle up only functions when the ac engages. The main idle adjustment is at the throttle body.
Just for the sake of knowing, are the spark plugs, cap, rotor, wire set Denso or NGK?

That's what I thought...

Plugs are NGK, cap-rotor-wire set are all Toyota.

older thread, yes, but wanted to give a shoutout to jimkola for illuminating a great method for setting the tps properly. much easier than using feeler gauges and a multimeter.

Thank you, but gotta give credit to a true Toyota Master tech who figured it out. Mr. Burton, you are the man.
I rarely sang the virtue of short cuts, as the were usually corner cutting to make more money(aka flat rate) at the expense of quality work. But JB could do both. Save time and raise the bar on workmanship
