not a fun job my friend lol.....loosen the fuel lines 1st then remove both the bracket bolts and remove . putting the long squeeze bolt back in is a real pain. i stuffed sum small pieces of paper towels in the end if the socket so it would put more force on the bolt to help get it started.....be carefull not to cross thread it. once yu loosen the outlet side....the hard part........yu can leave the wrench on the line end and then turn on the filter from the opposite end . if that makes any sense to ya lol. make shure yu remove neg battery post b4 yu start and yu can run the engine with the fuel pump fuse out to relieve fuel presure...then ist less messy. i know my directions suck lol but im not good putting thoughts into words. hope this helps ya alil bit.

Hope this helps... I know the fuel filter on those can be tough.
OH one more thing, its not a terrible idea to buy a fuel filter from the dealer, no doubt the cost is a bit more but you only have to change them every 100 thousand miles... then again the truck in question already has a bunch of miles on it... Just wanted to add that
good luck!

My 87 doesnt have AC, I am able to run my left hand along the side of the motor from the front of the truck to get some of the bolts and go over the front tire for others. If you go that route just make sure you dont bump the No. 1 injector.
There is a metal access plate that you can remove that makes it alot easier to get to also. It is located on the inner fender, just above the shock/A arm assembly.
Make sure you use new crush washers on each end of the fuel lines. There should be 2 for each end of the banjo fitting. Check for leaks ( I know..common sense) as you have 4washers that need to seal
I have 3 different trucks with 22res in them and each one is different to access. First time is the toughest and then you get the hang of it.

Ya Lobo....per the link the Toyotaman2000 posted you should be good to go
copy/paste from it.....
3. remove the passenger side tire
4. remove the access plate on the inner fender
5. locate the fuel filter. It is mounted on the block below the intake and above the starter.
