Hi guys im buying a 4x4 toyota pickup with a solid axle. Ill be towing it on a 2 wheel car dolly. My question is, where exactly where do I mark the rear drive shaft when I remove it? Also how many bolts and what size? Never done it before. Thanks guys

 

Also would my 90 toyota 22r 2wd tow this 4wd pickup just fine at slow speeds for a short distance or should i remove the motor first then just tow the shell? If I can get away with towing it with the motor in it I will. I wont be exceeding around 50mph possibly slower for about 20 or so miles

 

don't tow it with your 2WD, the 4x4 truck weigh more that your truck even with out the engine in it. Your 2WD is only rated for maybe a 2K trailer load and with out trailer brakes your truck will be hard pressed to stop. I have been towing trailers, cars and trucks for 30+ years. Borrow a full size truck

you can remove the 4 bolts for the driveshaft at the pumpkin and bungee cord the driveshaft to a secure point. Hard to tell what size bolts there are, could be 10,11,12,14 14mm etc. Who knows what someone may have replaced the stock bolts. Could even be SAE bolts
