It's not a terrible job, have you had experience with overhead cams before? Since it was an overheating thing, I'd look at getting a new water pump while you have the front of the motor apart and easy access to it. I'm gonna say that if you were able to install that long travel kit yourself you can do the head gaskets.

ya the PITA badge is not all that bad when it comes to HG replacement, you still pull most of the engine apart. plus if you are not in a rush to finish the job, when you get aggravated you go sit down and have a good laugh

Time consuming yes, some parts ARE a pita(especially if you're using stock exhaust manifolds), but most of it is cake work. Just don't rush through it.

Throw that chilton in the trash. Use the toyota FSM, its seriously the way to go. That chilton manual won't help you out, when you need it, it will tell you to refer to a mechanic

so i did a little recon under the truck. I looks like if i trim the upper shock mounts in the rear, i could make ones that would come close to the floor, but not quite. I figure i would be able to easily run a 12" shock with only a 2 inch lift in the back.

i really like the kit.
I remember looking at TC for future projects. The only thing with me is that i don't live anywhere near deserts that would get the full use of a kit like this.
It still looks badass tho =]
good work

I have 12" shocks, maybe 1 inch lift and they need to be at quite an angle even when less than an inch from the bed. I'm currently having it redone and incorporating air bumps. Here's an old pic, I can post one when I get it back if it helps.
