top shift t-case wont shift into 4x4
hello all, i have a 1986 4runner sr5, i have a top shift case that wont shift into 4x4, i took it out and completly rebuilt it, it shifted fine when i got it all back together, installed it to the tranny, and no more shifting, the hi/low rail still shifts but the 2wd/4wd rail still wont shift (pulled shifter and shifted with screwdriver to verify), now my thought was that the rail was being stopped by something inside the rear of the tranny where the guides slide in, but i have to pull i again to verify, i just was curious if anyone had any input before i start pulling again

the shift rails are locked together. All moving the lever does is go through "gates" that lets the rails move... or at least that's what I get from reading about dual shift levers, which necessitate shearing a pin between the levers.
You do have the pin installed between the rails? You took it apart so, maybe you forgot the pin and now need dual levers?
Pardon me, but I'm just grabbing and pulling....
