I just slow down, that normally is enough to stop the 'following'. I don't mind so much, I know they are doing their job and I have not had an issue in years. For the most part, police and highway patrol have been good to me. Besides, I like my cheap insurance.

I was wondering how strict BC was, and I guess thats answering my question.
What is a Box 2?
Its unfortunate that you got the ticket, but rules are rules I suppose. Maybe they might eventually enforce those damn fake HID's too!

Actually I just got pulled over for my first time for having a tail light out. Well, I actually stopped to check and see if it was working and he came back and turned on his lights. He didn't give me a ticket, and apparently december 2008 tags are expired???

we can use blue but you have to have some sort of certification for snow plowing and have your vehicle inspected. here, so long as the flashing red is NOT facing front and not out of sequence and NOT looking too much like police/emergency vehicles, you are ok!

fellow ontarians, dont quote me on this as i spoke with a sgt a while back in general on this so i could be somewhat inaccurate.

ps

hey jay, sorry to hear about your ticket, nice though that they give you a discount!

Yeah, The ticket comes out to be like $56 with the $25 early pay discount.
Couldnt have come at a worse time though, stupid holidays!

The funny thing was, he was following me for a good distance, SUPER close. I was THIS close to turning on my reverse lights to blind him, but my gut said no (I noticed the crown vic style headlights). So I played it cool, once he got reallly close (I couldnt see his headlights anymore) I let off the gas to slow down even more (thats what I do with tailgaters) and he lit em up...

IT depends on the cop you get. I have been pulled over/gone through road blocks and have never had an issue.

A box 2 requires the owner to take his truck to a inspection facility within 30 days of the notice. If you fail you have to fix everything or you cannot insure your truck. The vi will stay with the vehicle untill its fixed.... Lame!

My buddy got a box 2 last summer on our way to go wheeling/camping. Good thing he knows guys who will pass your truck no matter what

So he was nice in the sence that he gave me a box 3, this requires me to drop into the local RCMP detachment, give them the notice and show them that I removed the blue lights.. (just removed them 20 mins ago).

Tis snowing pretty good right now, I might not get out there in time before they close (stupid gov't office closing at 4:30)...

Hey Ozzy, that sounds like that cop was havin a bad day, what a jerk!

At least you didnt get a ticket. I read in the rulebook, that around here. If you have a rear light out that can warrent a box 2 or even a box 1 (they tow your junk).... I always try to be as polite as possible to cops... I don't need anymore grief!

some cops do the tailgating thing to annoy drunks. Odds are that intoxicated drivers will either slam the brakes or gun it. Both reactions would earn a field sobriety test.

our law about the lights here is stated "no forward facing, flashing blue, or red lights." But some oraficers say its at their say so, and that "a wire could come loose and cause the bulb to flash." Been nailed by state popo on this. Of course i was also using tractor spot lights as driving lights.

break check

one of my favorite memories was when I had my jeep with a four inch lift and I break tested a cop that was riding my a$$, my girlfriend laughed so hard when we heard him lock up his tires and slide under my bumper a little. And I really slamed on them to because the light just turned yellow and I felt i should stop LOL, I wish he would have hit me
