Too much backfire

so I had a problem with backfiring and thought hey ill just adjust my AFM so I did it like 3 clicks clockwise. noticed a much better throttle response and MUCH LESS engine braking but under 2k RPM I'm backfiring like a mofo. did I go the wrong way?

backfiring is often a timing issue.

don't adjust the afm, especially as an attempt to fix a problem.

so I fixed it. but It was kind of a bunch of problems all at once.
yes my timing was pretty advanced. so I brought it down to like 12.
I guess I bent my #2 spark plug when I put it in last.
and I took the cap off my distributor and there was a bunch of mud in it. not crazy amount but enough to have a nice film on the contacts.
so I fixed all that and it runs like a dream.
yay
