1 piece of tubing cut down the middle
1 self tapping screw

lmao, that's awesome!
Mine's half broke... the front part is broke, but the back of it is still there, so I've been just setting it in between it an the core-support, lol
but now I know how to fix it when that peice finally breaks
but what I'd do is remove what's left of the broken plastic clip and mount it there, instead of drilling a new hole

My grandfather was one of the smartest people Ive ever met. My grandmother would call him an "engineer without the degree". He was able to fix anything with whatever he had at hand. And it was always something wild like this that I never would have thought of in a million years. It just comes from living in a day and age when improvising was the norm, I guess, when there wasnt a part you could just go and buy at Wally World or wherever.
PS Im totally doing this when I get home tonight. Mine is broken too.

Another way to do it is with one of the metal 1/4" socket clips from HF. pull it off the socket tree and screw it to the core support. Nice idea though I love these cheap fixes.

x2. I dont really like the clip anyways, youve gotta pull hard enough to snap it out of the holder when I can just easily lift it up haha.

Mine's still there. '94 Pickup.
On a side note, a simple Plinth clip would have worked too. (from cabinetry)
About eighty cents at your local hardware store.

Who would have thunk a thread on hood support clips! I picked a few on my last trip to the pick n pull only to discover my new aftermarket over-sized R134a condenser blocks half of the clip hole. I considered installing struts but this thread gives some simpler and cheaper options. Thanks.
