94,

i dont konw if yours is the same, but my 3rd gen rear cargo window was loose. when they cut that window out w/ a dremel like air tool w/ a right angle blade, they cut right through 4 plastic plugs that were embedded in a plastic frame. attached to the plastic frame was the outside rubber gasket.

on the other hand, mod steve's 2nd gen's rear cargo window was held down by nuts and bolts. yours will probalby like that. search and find his writeup it might be in the tech section. search words: 2nd gen rear cargo window using advanced search under his screenname.

ok, that said, for the amount of work and headache (i.e. dust bunnies, cutting a perfect stencil for the tint, etc), just pay the $50-80 and have it professionally done w quality tint. if that rear glass is curved, its not as easy as you might think to get it to lay flat

He has a pickup. The rear window is held in only with a rubber seal, no sealant or glue. 2 ways I do this at the yard. #1, use a screwdriver inside the cab and very carefully...so as not to ruin the seal...press the seal out and after a while, the glass will come out. #2 is to use a flat blade screwdriver on the outside to pry the seal out (use a towel to protect the paint of the truck body) Once its partially removed, you should be able to pull it back/out.

btw Bob-

3rd Gen runners use a non-removable style window sealant, and the 4 clips hold the window in while the glue sets at the factory
2nd gen runners use a soft sealant, and must thusly use the nuts to hold the window in.

Do you have experiance with aftermarket tint?? I only ask becuse I hate it.. It scratches way too easy, turns purple after a while and will peel. My 92 had it in it from when my bro-in-law had it... i have been slowly removing it panel at a time... aftermarket tint really really sucks...

Work it from the outside with a screwdriver as mentioned. I took mine out on my 94 when I had it because I locked my keys inside and couldn't figure out another way to get in.

I used a spray bottle full of really soapy water and sprayed it every chance I got on the removal and the reinstallation.

The back window is really easy to tint but hard to get rid of the light holes around the edges unless you're really good. Taking it out will be a good way to do it but just time consuming.

I would think you would scratch it up putting it back in........

Just make sure it is super clean and tint it in the truck.
wet the outside of the window and lay the tint against it. The tint should pretty much hold itself against a wet window. Then trim it to fit. Once you have it trimed. Then spray the inside of the window with a water bottle and a drop or two of dish soap. Then seperate the tint and put it on the window. Then squeegy out the water and air. Most people run into trouble trying to put it on the window and then cutting it to fit. This way it is already cut to fit.
